AHL player Krystof Hrabik suspended 30 games for racist gesture

On Friday, the American Hockey League suspended San Jose Barracuda for 30 games after making a racist move against Boko Imama of the Tucson Roadrunners in a January 12 game.

A source said that 22-year-old Hrabik imitated the movements of a monkey in a taunt that targeted Imama, who is black. The taunt was spotted by players on the roadrunners' bench, and Hrabik was confronted on the ice by Travis Barron of Tucson while Imama was held by a lineman during a game stop.

AHL learned of the incident on January 13 and launched an investigation in which Hrabik was removed from all team activities.

Hrabik's suspension includes the three games he missed during the investigation.

"The AHL is with Boko Imama," said Scott Howson, president and CEO of AHL, in a statement. "It is unfair for a player to be subjected to comments or gestures based on race; he must be judged only on his ability to play on the ice, as a partner in the locker room and as a member of his community.

As part of his suspension, Hrabik has the opportunity to work with the NHL Players Inclusion Committee to participate in education and training on racism and inclusion. He'll be allowed to apply for reinstatement to the AHL after missing 21 games. 안전토토사이트 The league's decision will be "based on an assessment of its progress in necessary education and training" with the Players Inclusion Committee.

The Barracuda and San Jose Sharks, affiliated with the NHL team, also issued a joint statement Friday:

This is the second time a player has been suspended for making a racist gesture against Imama. Former Bakersfield Condors defender Brandon Manning was suspended from five games in 2020 after using a racial insult to Imama.

Imama was written by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2015. He spent four years with the Los Angeles Kings from 2017 to 21 before signing with the Roadrunners last summer.

Klay Thompson to make debut on Sunday after missing 2 straight seasons

According to The Athletic, Golden State Warriors goalkeeper Klay Thompson is expected to make his long-awaited comeback against the Cleveland Cavaliers Sunday. The start of the season comes 31 months after the last time the All-Star played an NBA game.

The 31-year-old tore the ACL in his left knee in the sixth game of the finals in June 2019. In his attempt to return for the start of the next season, Thompson tore Achilles' right hamstring in November 2020.

The Warriors wrote a statement by Thompson entitled "The Wait is Over" after a few moments after the practice and the Golden State Coach Steve Kerr to the media.

It wrote: "I hate to say 'I can't wait' because I like to be present in my life, but I can't wait to play in front of our fans again. I am really, very pleased to be a warrior."

Without giving Thompson's secret, Kerr noticed just before that the 31-year-old would return as a starter before he cautiously added, "When he returns... it will be one of the most emotional nights in my basketball strip."

Thompson had on the 13th. In June 2019, a loss against Toronto ended Golden State's offer for a fourth title in five seasons. He misses the club's last 175 regular games and both 2021 play-in tournament games, with the warriors not back in the playoffs since his knee injury.

His return occurs just as the Warriors were settled with their first two-game losing streaks of the season. They were without Stephen Kerry (brusque right quad) and Dreamond Green (attracted left hip) in 101-96 losses in New Orleans on Thursday, which ended 0-2.

The Golden State lost the day before, 99-82 in Dallas.

Thompson will see a surprisingly familiar opponent in the Cavaliers, although he is from the other conference. This is because Golden State and Cleveland met in 22 playoffs - four times in the 2015-18 NBA finals - while Thompson helped the warriors to win 15 victories and three championships.

Thompson has only four teams (all Western Conference Clubs) more often: the Houston Rockets (51), Los Angeles Clippers (44), Portland Trail Blazers (42) and San Antonio Spurs (41).

After the hard hit COVID at the end of December, Cleveland was healthier last week, two out of three won, including 114-101 in Portland on Friday in the opening of a six-game trip.

Darius Garland led with 26 points, but the big news was the smooth transition of Rajon Rondo, who made his Cavalliers debut from the bank with 11 points, five rebonds and three assists in 17 minutes.

"It was funny," Garland said afterwards. "The first two pieces were like: 'Well, that's Rondo on the floor.'But it was cool. Rondo is a really good man; he is a great veterinarian; he is a guide on the ground. So it was fun to play with him'.

Rondo fills the void created when Ricky Rubio suffered a torn left ACL last month. Rubio is for the season, which is characterized by the high-scoring sign Collin Sexton (torn meniscus in left knee) in this distinction.

Clubs met again at the beginning of this season, when the Warriors fell from a deficit of 81-68 at the end of the third quarter to shock the Cavalry 먹튀사이트 and their home fans from 36-8.

Curry (20 points), Damion Lee (9 points) and Juan Toscano-Anderson (7 points) combined to make all the fourth quarter notes of the Golden State in the extraordinary comeback that produced a 104-89 win.

Curry accelerated the Warriors by 40 points. Garland had 25 for the Cavaliers.
